Tour de Troit

Yo. What up?! So, I got an email today from the Tour de Troit people letting me know that registration is open for business, for this year's fun ride through the Motor City. The event is slated for Saturday, September 24 and takes off at 8am sharp. If you register before August 1st (which is only a few short days away), the price will be discounted (it's now $35, but will go up). Included in the price is a snazzy t-shirt, which I missed out on last year so I might do it up to get the shirt.

The link for registration of this fine event can be found [here].

My accounts of last year's experience can be found [here].

Even though my average speed for the ride was a whopping 9.1 mph, this was honestly one of the coolest things (next to the Iceman, lol) I've ever done on two wheels. I hope we get a good gang together for the ride. Just was sweet to do something different. I might try fastening a boom box to my handlebars, so yes, I'm taking requests... let me know what you want the rest of Detroit to jam as tHD pimps on through.... Kid Rock, Too Short, Barry Manilow, whatever. Perhaps a stop at our favorite hole in Mexicantown could be arranged as well...? Just throwing it out there.

That's it for now. Hope you kids are all prepping for O2S. Kisses.

Ride Around Torch Lake 2011

Sunday, July 17, 2011 was a great day for a road ride! Here's a few shots from the Ride Around Torch Lake. Hope everyone had a great time. To see a few more shots, including a few scenery shots, visit my Flickr site at http://www.flickr.com/photos/larrythebiker/

*** Below is a "hd" edit. Larry said "scenery", and well, I just wanted to make sure all versions of that word were represented.

Mission to Old Mission Peninsula

It was a great ride to the end of the Old Mission Peninsula on Saturday. Special thanks to John and Steve for initiating and organizing this group ride. The Old Mission is one of my favorite road rides in Michigan. Here's a few shots and my Garmin log from the ride. You can check out a few more shots on my Flickr page.

GET OFF THE FENCE!

If you are in for Torch Lake weekend, please let Coach Steve know by Thursday so we can make arrangements on where to crash our hot dogs at night. I think he has a thread started on Facebook, so go over there and cast your two cents on what you are doing. Should be an awesome weekend. I know we're doing the Old Mission Peninsula ride Saturday, and Sunday will be the Ride Around Torch on our converted cross bikes made into road demons.

Check out this beaut I dug up from the archives circa August 2004. The last time I rode all the way to the tip of the Old Mission. This could be you in just over a week! (minus the gay jersey)

Another BBB in the Books!

Another 4th of July has come and gone. That doesn't mean team Hot Dog didn't do it up, the way its supposed to be! Gorgeous weather allowed us to hammer through 42 miles or so, up some of the biggest hills Michigan has to offer. At the end of this glorious rainbow, Coors Light, Summer Shandy, Buffalo Chicken brats, and the highlight of them all, cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped, Nathan's hot dogs awaited us upon completion of this perfect day.

The team, and Shaun's "knob", pose for a photo

Getting our hammer on!

Yes, that's a flag coming out of my ass. Happy Birthday America!

Maneuvering another sensitive horse.

Coach taking it all in.

Shaun's arms really need some sun.

I think is what is giving me heart palpitations tonight.

July is Hot Dog Month!!

Yes kids, unless you've all been living under a rock, you should know that July is National Hot Dog Month!

I'd say here at thd HQ, we're getting that month off to a great start! Yesterday, coach dragged me around Island Lake for 2 laps. We had a good time, the trail was fast, and we were getting ready for Monday's 3rd ever BBB. Hope everyone can make it. I'm still pondering which of my favorite lagers I'll be purchasing in it's finest 6 pack form...? Hmm....

At any rate, I leave you with this fine photo to celebrate Hot Dog Month!
